How to use a Shower Steamer

Shower Steamers are one of the easiest ways to upgrade your daily routine, but using them correctly makes all the difference!
Frequently asked questions from our customers:
- Where do I put it?
- Why did mine dissolve too fast?
- How can I make it last longer?
First, What is a Shower Steamer?
A shower steamer is a compact aromatherapy tablet made with baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, essential oils and sometimes fragrance oils. When activated by water, it fizzes and releases aroma into the steam of your shower.
Unlike bath bombs, shower steamers are not designed to sit directly under running water or be submerged in water.
They are made for steam, not soaking.
How to use a shower steamer properly?
Just follow these simple steps:
STEP 1: Turn on your shower
Let the water warm up and create steam before placing your steamer in the shower. Steam helps carry the aroma into the air.
STEP 2: Place it outside of the direct water flow (the most important step)
You can place your steamer on the floor (away from the drain), in the corner, on a ledge, or on a shower tray. Make sure the steamer gets splashes of water, not a direct stream.
If it sits directly under the water or near the drain, it will dissolve very quickly.
STEP 3: Let the steamer do the work
As water lightly hits the steamer, it activates the fizzing reaction. The steam carries the aroma, creating a spa-like experience. Take slow, deep breaths and enjoy!
How to make your shower steamer last longer
- Keep out of direct water
- Break it in half - especially for smaller showers
- Use a shower tray - trays lift the steamer off the floor and prevents it from dissolving too quickly
- Store the steamers in a dry, dark, low humid place.
Common Mistakes
- Placing directly under the shower stream of water
- Placing near the drain
- Letting it sit in a puddle of water
How long should a shower steamer last?
When used correctly, most steamers last 15-20 minutes. It all depends on water pressure and placement.
